The outer harbour is designated for leisure activities.
While most commercial operations are conducted in the main or ‘old’ harbour.
Scarborough Harbour is positioned on the northeast coast, alongside Scarborough Castle and close to the picturesque South Bay beach.
The leisure berths in the outer harbour are exposed at low tide
Vessels are required to maintain a slow speed while navigating the harbour.
The harbour authority can dictate vessel navigation within 250 metres of the East Pier.
Certain areas within the harbour have restricted berthing for specific vessel types.
The "Belle" at Scarborough Pier Lighthouse
A salvaged WW1 Vickers pattern F3 pom-pom gun is on display on Vincent Pier. This historic gun, recovered from the coast, stands on the pier that defines the inner harbour. This is distinct from the former North Bay Pier, which was destroyed in 1905.
