Established in 1881, the Central Tramway Company Scarborough Limited is a Victorian cliff railway located on the Yorkshire coast.
As one of the oldest operating cliff railways in the UK, it holds the distinction of being the oldest cliff tramway company in the country, as the original corporation continues to run the business today.
In 2024, the Central Tramway Company received a National Transport Trust Red Wheel and was recognized as a Transport Heritage Site.
In 2012, the company was awarded a blue plaque by the Scarborough Civic Society Heritage Trail
