Shuttleworth Garden features a "Garden For The Blind," specifically designed with highly fragrant flowers for the enjoyment of individuals with visual impairments.


Shuttleworth Gardens provides a peaceful retreat in the center of Scarborough.
This unique green space is valued for its calm atmosphere,  describe the gardens as a "hidden gem" and commend their beautiful upkeep, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely walk or quiet contemplation.

The sensory gardens are populated with strongly scented plants and flowers in raised beds, making them particularly appealing to the blind.

A notable feature is the charming miniature village, known as the fairy garden. 

Despite some modern alterations, retains a sense of whimsy and nostalgia for many visitors.

Complete with its own gates and a fairy post box.

Alfred Shuttleworth originally owned the gardens, later donating them to the town.
The gardens are located opposite the Clock Tower on the Esplanade, next to the Red Court residence, which served as the hospital setting for the ITV drama "The Royal."

Shuttleworth Gardens is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing unrestricted access for visitors. The gardens include a wheelchair-accessible entrance to facilitate entry.
