Oliver's Mount and The Mere Country Park
It has been designated a country park by the Borough Council following a major restoration of the lake.
If you’re looking for breathtaking views of Scarborough, take a trip to Oliver’s Mount.
There are several routes to walk around the plateau of Oliver's Mount, all of which lead to the Cenotaph and the magnificent views over Scarborough which can be enjoyed from the seats below it.
This vast wooded hill is located on the southern part of Scarborough and offers stunning vistas from its 500-foot elevation.
On the mount is the War Memorial, a towering column that reaches a height of 75.5 feet / 23.04288m.
Interestingly, the mount was once known as Weaponness, and its current name may have originated from the belief that Oliver Cromwell stationed batteries on it during the Castle siege.
